Community engagement is at the heart of what we do at Cerris. In the spirit of one of our core values, Caring Heart, we recognize what’s truly important, and make a point to give back no matter where we’re working. While the structures we create can improve lives, the connections we make can change them forever. Our goal is to make it easy and accessible for our team members to give back to the fullest with their time, talents, or resources.

Paid Volunteer Time
Employees are given eight hours of volunteer time to use at their discretion either as one whole day of service or broken out by the hour to use as they wish. At different times during the year, we also provide volunteer opportunities, organized by the Caring Heart Foundation and the local Charitable Cause Committees, to benefit local organizations.
To honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy of service, the Caring Heart Foundation also encourages employees to volunteer on MLK Day. Cerris provides an additional eight hours of paid volunteer time specifically for this day, which is separate from the annual volunteer time allotment.
We launched the Cerris Caring Heart Foundation with the mission to change the lives of those in need by championing organizations that align with our five core areas of giving and supporting nonprofits in which our employees personally invest.
In practice, the Cerris Caring Heart Foundation serves this mission in two ways. Employee donation matching is a core function of the Foundation. Each employee is eligible for a donation match every year to an organization of their choosing. We also invest in 501(c)(3) organizations through sponsorships and donations that align with our five core giving pillars: Veteran Support, Home Improvement & Community Revitalization, Workforce Development & Education, Children’s Quality of Life, and Entrepreneurship.
Partnering To Make A Difference
Cerris supports two non-profits at the national level. These national partnerships with Ronald McDonald House Charities and Folds of Honor exist for us to make the largest impact possible and give a way for our team members to get involved even if they haven’t found a cause they’re passionate about on a personal or office level yet. We’re also making an impact at the local level with organizations and charities in our backyards. From Variety KC to Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Operation Stand Down, and many more, we also seek opportunities to support people directly at the project level—meeting needs where they arise and creating lasting connections along the way.

Folds of Honor
Our company has supported military construction projects for over 25 years, and many on our team have personal ties to the Military. Partnering with Folds of Honor—providing scholarships to families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders—felt like a natural fit.
